The art of producing images or videos ("rendered") only when they are needed. Helps to reduce cost, because only relevant media assets are being created (in real-time), in comparison to pre-rendered images where all possible images are defined and created for all possible combinations. Both technical solutions have their pros and cons; while pre rendered helps you to deliver the images faster to the customer, on demand will only produce relevant images (especially important when there are many images possible due to the variance of combinations of a product).
